When played in public, eight ball is a great recreational game that has many followers of the sport. Most people who frequent local bars will know of the game and follow it even on television. However, some people like to bet a beer or two on the game and this is when the game can get a little rough. It is perhaps wise for those who can see that a player is not very good, and who then insists on having a bet on the next game to make sure that this player is not a ‘hustler’ who draws people into parting with money. Many a fight has been started in this way and it is surely not a good idea to bet on the game unless the people playing are well known.
