The Knicks created their success on pressure defence and a unselfish passing game. In the playoffs New York beat Baltimore in seven games and bounced the Milwaukee Bucks in five. The NBA Finals pitted the Knicks against a Los Angeles Lakers squad led by Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain. The games were full with drama as the squads traded victories. The two squads split Games 3 and 4, both of which went to overtime. Frazier scored 36 points, completed 19 assists, and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line. The Knicks won over the Lakers, 113-99, for the Championship.
